OK, the proposed law defining a fertilized egg as a person was voted down. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Stop scratching your head. I ask the same question whatever the situation.

In this case the question brought me back to the 20th century when an amendment to the Colorado state constitution ("Amendment 2") was passed that would have prevented any city, town or county in the state from taking any legislative, executive, or judicial action to recognize gay and lesbian citizens as a protected class. The part that stood out for me was that no Gay person could even make a Claim of discrimination.
It was so incredibly unconstitutional that even the Supreme Court noticed.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romer_v._Evans

After it was struck down Anti Gay/"Pro Family" activists pledged to take there campaign to other states and rewording there proposed amendments so as to pass muster in future supreme court battles. It didn't turn out well for them.

I expect history to repeat itself with with the Zygote Rights movement. Other states will have similar proposals up for vote. There will be new campaigns with different a different focus and if one should pass then we all will be hitting the road to the steps of the Supreme Court.

Hmmm... I wonder if that will be a good thing or a bad thing?
